JOSH TANG

Board Member

Josh grew up in many places: New Mexico, Massachusetts, Santa Cruz, and the East Bay Area. He finally settled in SLO where he received a B.S. in Computer Science from Cal Poly. He is currently a Director of Technology at Amazon, leading in running services for Books largely focused on Self Publishing and Print-on-Demand. Josh became a Board Member in late 2022, and we are glad to have him! He loves the special culture and dedication to building students ready for all of life and the challenges of scaling while keeping all these things that make it special. He loves the small class sizes, the focus on each individual, the flexibility in letting people demonstrate their unique talents, and the learning through classical literature. You can find him riding his enormous bike around town, hanging out with his family, or eating out with friends and co-workers. His passion for lifelong learning was sparked in college when he first was challenged to individually learn and it grew as he developed curiosity and passion to understand his faith at a deeper level. This same passion has been maturing as he raises children, serves in leadership positions, and reads. Finally, as many do, Josh wants to learn how to effectively survive parenting a teenager... but he also want to develop a deeper level of understanding of classical education.
