Katy Burbank

Intermediate Learning Leader

Katy Burbank grew up a little differently from most. From Seattle, Washington, her love for learning blossomed as a very young child when her parents joined a commune. She was doted on by a rare mix of deeply inspired souls. Being such a tiny person under the umbrella of such collective greatness left her with the indelible sense that education is a gift that truly comes to life when it is shared. She went on to earn a B.A. in Writing/Film from The Evergreen State College and a teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education from Pacific Oaks College. Katy worked as a firefighter for 10 years, as well as a pre-K and toddler teacher in Vancouver, WA, and a professional nanny in Los Angeles, before joining the learning community of SLOCA in 2024. In her spare time, she can be found reading, writing, or hiking with her pup.
