SHARON CUMBERLAND
Librarian
Growing up in Santee, California—just outside San Diego—Sharon Cumberland didn’t discover the beauty of literature until college. At Azusa Pacific University, she realized that learning could be more than a means to an end and earned her B.A. in English. SLOCA’s deep love of literature and the humanities felt like a natural fit for her. In 2019, Sharon joined the team as curator of the school’s Down Home blog. A true bibliophile, she loves the texts used in SLOCA’s curricula—they are rich with beautiful language, introduce complex characters, and have stood the test of time. When she’s not reading, Sharon enjoys spending time with her family, hiking outdoors, playing board games, and indulging in ice cream.
