Upper Middle School Teacher

Stephanie grew up in Santa Maria and attended Cal Poly, earning her BA in Political Science, BA in History, Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science, and Supplemental Authorization in English. She has taken all of that knowledge and brought it to her Wisdom Wonder work and her UMS Logic teacher duties. She joined the team after seeing the curriculum and education first hand (by being the homeschool teacher and subbing at SLOCA), wanting to share this with other students as well. Her love was won by the focus on history. It was kept by the depth of subject matter. It is sustained by the way SLOCA teaches and interacts with the students. Homeschooling her own SLOCA kids is also a big part of her life and when she finds time, she slips in some pleasure reading and, occasionally, some knitting. Her love for learning was sparked by her 8th grade Social Studies teacher. His teaching made her want to become a teacher herself. When she got to do one of her student teaching assignments with him, she saw what he brought to the classroom that made it so special and she strives to do the same.
