Generosity is a core SLOCA virtue, and if you’re looking for inspiration, look no further than our very own primary student Cora Sansone. At only seven years old, Cora took it upon herself to raise $31 for our Capital Campaign by selling her own crafts.

After reading a book about kids earning money, Cora visited a craft fair and felt a spark of inspiration. She decided to make and sell her own bead art, turning a hobby she loves into a meaningful contribution to the school she loves.
“I really like SLOCA,” Cora explained. “I know they need money for the new campus.”
What makes Cora’s story especially remarkable is the thoughtfulness behind her giving. She already donates regularly to a dog rescue run by a family friend because, as she puts it, she really loves dogs. But when she learned about SLOCA’s new campus campaign, she asked for another donation envelope so she could contribute to both causes close to her heart.

We hope Cora’s initiative inspires other students to think creatively about how they, too, can make a difference.
“It feels good to give,” she says, “and I think if everyone gives a little it will help A LOT.”
Remember: anybody, can donate to our capital campaign, and everything counts. Our new campus is a team effort, and while the journey may seem long, remember: little by little one travels far.
Thank you, Cora.
