It is Friday and we have another Latin phrase to share with you. However, before we get to the Latin we are excited to announce that Robin Van Duren has won our Trimester Three Giveaway! Thank you to those who participated by filling in our questionnaire. We are looking forward to sharing with you those tips and hacks to make life simpler in our summer series, Helpful Hacks.
And now for some Latin…
This week’s Latin phrase and our character trait of the month, stewardship, go hand in hand. Read on to learn some new Latin Lingo from our UMS Latin teacher, Mrs. Sarah Weinschenk.
This Week’s Latin Phrase: Mens Sana In Corpore Sano
What does it mean?
Mens sana in corpore sano means a sound mind in a sound body.
How is it used today?
This phrase reminds us of the mind-body connection and how exercise and nutrition improve the state of our mind and allow it to be more effective. It is a good reminder to parents, students, and teachers that sometimes physical activity is needed to stimulate our intellect.
Why should we and our students be familiar with it?
Like all Latin phrases, it packs important ideas into a few words. It is fairly commonly used in speech and writing.
Thank you, Mrs. Weinschenk!
