Our “Character and Code of Conduct Applications” defines diligence as “committing to doing tasks with excellence and persevering with determination and patience to complete tasks in spite of difficulties and discouragements.” Diligence requires time, commitment to excellence and never giving up. In our modern society, instant gratification is the norm and a virtue such as diligence can easily be overlooked.
This month, how can your family work on fostering diligence? Perhaps you can pick a challenging and fun task to complete–like a large puzzle, or a model to build. Pick something that will take time to complete and commit to working on it. Experience the frustrations and the joys that a longer project can present.
What are some ways your family instills or practices diligence? Leave a comment and be entered into a drawing. Drawing closes next Monday.
