Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Semper discentes—always learning together.

It’s May!

We are truly amazed that May is at the door and we are nearing the end of our first year of operation! As is true of every school I have ever been a part of, we are simultaneously looking ahead to the next school year as we plan to finish this year strong. We just held our first annual Walk-A-Thon. We have several field trips left before the end of school and we will have a Roman Recitation evening to culminate our study of ancient Rome.

We have one month left of our open enrollment phase for the 2006-07 school year. We are gathering applications from interested teachers as we see our size potentially doubling! We have leased additional space for next year’s classes and are reviewing curriculum to finalize what tools we will be utilizing in our educational process for next year as well. We have definitely been busy meeting with potential families and answering questions regarding our program and what makes us unique.

If you are unfamiliar with classical education or you just want to know more about how we are approaching the program, please contact us. All this information and more can also be found on our fabulous website created by energetic and talented parent volunteers. Check us out at www.sloclassicalacademy.com
