The poem for the months of December and January is The Destruction of Sennacherib by Lord George Gordon Byron (click for an additional bio and story behind the poem). You can find the poem on page 27 of Classic Poetry. A powerful dramatic reading of the poem is helpful (listen by clicking here). Note how you can hear the running of horses in the way the battle is happening in the poem.
