Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Kid Inventors’ Day

Reminder: today's the last day – have you posted a comment about Integrity yet, to be entered into this month's drawing? Don't miss out – join the discussion!

Did you know that today is Kid Inventors' Day? It is also the birthday of Benjamin Franklin, an accomplished inventor as we all know, and a kid inventor as well (he invented swim flippers when he was 12 years old). So this day was chosen to celebrate and encourage young inventors each year. In light of our current studies and upcoming Invention Convention, our kids might enjoy knowing about it! It's amazing to think that items we use all the time were invented by kids, such as the popsicle, earmuffs, and the trampoline.

Check out the Kid Inventor’s Day website to learn more, and to encourage the inventor in your child! There are tips for kid inventors, and lots of links to other great sites as well.

Does your child like to tinker or invent things? How many young inventors do we have in our community? Share a comment below and let’s talk about it!
