Did you enjoy the insightful quotes our Director, Susie, included in her presentation at the parent meeting last Monday night? There were some truly great ones that deserve further contemplation, and I (Jenny), found myself sitting there thinking “I need to ask her for those quotes!” If you were thinking the same thing, today we have a gift for you. We’ve compiled the quotes from last Monday night’s meeting in one handy place for you to keep and enjoy.
Just for kicks, if you’d like to make a fun graphic using any of these quotes, (maybe to post on Facebook, to print and put up in your home or office, or to use in some other way), here’s an appealing website that may be of use to you: recitethis.com. You type in anything you want, choose a layout, and download the image. Easy and cool! (some images work better with shorter quotes…)
So here they are – read these again, chew on them, and let them encourage and inspire you:
All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth.
~ Aristotle
An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.
~ Ben Franklin.
Study the past if you would define the future.

The subject of literature, I tell my students repeatedly, is human experience. Literature rarely gives us new information. What it does instead is put us in touch with human experience, clarifying that experience in the process.
~ Leland Ryken
What matters most in a child's development, they say, is not how much information we can stuff into her brain in the first few years. What matters, instead, is whether we are able to help her develop a very different set of qualities, a list that includes persistence, self-control, curiosity, conscientiousness, grit and self-confidence.
~ Paul Tough
Once children learn how to learn, nothing is going to narrow their mind.
~ Marva Collins
The world is rated R,
and no one is checking IDs.
Do not try to make it G by imagining the shadows away.
Do not try to hide your children
from the world forever,
but do not try to pretend there is no danger. Train them. Give them sharp eyes
and bellies full of laughter.
Make them dangerous.
Make them yeast, and when they’ve grown, they will pollute the shadows.
~ N.D. Wilson
At its best, schooling can be about how to make a life, which is quite different from how to make a living.
~ Neil Postman
Alone we can do so little;
together we can do so much.
~ Helen Keller
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
~ Henry Ford
Always remember, it’s simply not an adventure worth telling if there aren’t any dragons.
~ Sarah Ban Breathnach
Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children.
