San Luis Obispo Classical Academy San Luis Obispo Classical Academy

Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Semper discentes—always learning together.

Have a seat on the East West Ranch Bluff Trail in Cambria {source}

Wasn't last night's Invention Convention fantastic? What a fun and amazing showcase of our student's hard work. Pictures will be on the blog soon!

It’s Friday, and hopefully your progress reports are turned in and you can give yourself a well deserved break this weekend! Looks like the weather might clear up, so maybe go for a family hike or bike ride, enjoy a picnic, or take a day trip to a not-so-far-away fun spot like Cambria or Solvang. Whatever you choose to do, let's aim to be Free by 5:00, making some time for face to face connection with family and friends, away from the electronics that so often demand our attention.

Trimester 2 ends next week (can you believe it?) and we have a couple of E&E days scheduled next Wednesday and Thursday. If you need ideas, go back to our Trimester 2 Links for some online resources, or refer back to our E&E post from the beginning of the school year.

One idea mentioned for E&E is to visit a local Mission. Since this ties in nicely with our history studies as well, it might be a worthwhile way to spend some E&E time. Here’s a link to info about the various Central Coast Missions.

One other event to mention for this weekend – hopefully it’s not too last minute  – the SLO Youth Symphony Spring Concert is happening tomorrow night, Saturday, March 9th, at 7 pm. Visit the website for more details.

Oh, and Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend – don’t forget to set your clocks one hour forward on Saturday night! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
