Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Happy Friday, and welcome to spring break! Next week, Down Home will be taking a break as well, but you can always stay current with the blog by subscribing via email – just click on the link in the right hand column to sign up, and you’ll receive an email every time there’s a new post.

Before we leave, we want to mention that our high schoolers have been hard at work creating The Hanging Lantern Review, an onilne literary arts/culture blog, and they are currently raising funds for their first print edition! Will you take a moment to view the video they made and consider supporting this amazing community of young people? 

We hope you have a wonderful week and make the most of your time off, whether that means taking a family vacation, catching up on life, or enjoying a week of doing as little as possible. Spend some time away from social media and make some memories together. Maybe head out for a picnic, plant a garden, or let the kids build a fort (here are some tips on Five Ways to Build the Perfect Kids Fort). Whatever you do, we wish you good times with friends, family, food, and fun!
