Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Semper discentes—always learning together.

Summer 2013: Prepare – Get Your Books

{Photo by Jenny Bischoff}

Are you looking forward to:

  • Learning how mummies were made?
  • Discovering how hieroglyphics were first deciphered?
  • Reading about the excavation of ancient treasure?
  • Diving into the great legends of ancient times?
  • Enjoying beautifully illustrated children's books and captivating historical novels with your family?

This summer, one of the best ways you can prepare for next school year is to buy your books and curriculum so you will be ready when we set off on our journey to experience all of the above and more!

If you attended one of our curriculum previews, you’ve seen the wonderful books we’ll be using this year. By purchasing your trimester 1 books over the summer and taking the time to peek at them (let the kids see them too!), you will not only be prepared to start the school year, but you’ll get excited about what’s ahead.

We encourage you to shop at our school bookstore – it’s an easy way to support the school and to quickly find exactly the books you need for each level. Come by and see the new location! (Now located behind the office next to the small playground.) Bookstore hours this summer are Tuesdays from 10AM – 1PM, and all week August 19-23 from 10AM – 1PM.
