Happy Friday, and a big pat on the back all around for a first week well done! We are all either transitioning back into routines, or adjusting to a new school, so remember to give yourself time to settle in.
Down Home will typically feature a few different things on Fridays. We often call it “Free Friday,” or “Free by 5:00 Friday,“ not because it’s a day off, but as a reminder to intentionally carve out some time over the weekend to be free from electronic devices and social media, and to truly connect with family and friends. It doesn’t have to start at 5:00 (we just like the alliteration of Free by 5:00), but we do encourage you to decide what kind of device-free time works best for you and your family. When there is something noteworthy happening in our community over the weekend, we’ll occasionally highlight that for you on Fridays to give you some family fun ideas. And to mix things up a bit this year, we will periodically offer “Friday Food for Thought” – snippets or articles about education and other relevant topics to pique your interest.
Starting soon, we will be setting aside several Fridays to introduce you to some of our amazing and dedicated SLOCA teachers and staff. On these Fridays you’ll see a short feature of a few teachers or staff members, letting you know what they do here at SLOCA, with a photo and a little bit about them. We hope you will enjoy meeting these friendly “Friday Faces” online and then on campus too!
