Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Magical Moments: UMS Campertunity Fall 2014

{photos by Chuck Smith}

Welcome to a new week! For today’s Magical Moment, we have photos from the Upper Middle School Campertunity trip last fall. This has always been a special and much-anticipated weekend for our 7th and 8th grade students. They have the chance to get to know eachother while playing, hiking, and having fun just being kids on a campout. One parent remarked that it was especially neat to see how these middle schoolers gathered around Mr. Stavros as he read to them or told stories. These students had a blast!

Track A 7th grader Jonah Jenkins commented: “So one of my favorite memories was probably when we all came together at the camp fire because that was fun and memorable. Also one of my thoughts was I enjoyed the ride up because it was fun, we sang and talked but it was definitely long. Also, we went rock climbing and hiking and it was a bit dangerous so you had to be careful but extremely fun. I had a great trip and I'm glad it was at the beginning of the year.”

Enjoy a few of the moments caught on camera:
