Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Time together is one of the top reasons families love SLO Classical Academy.  Here are a few ideas to enrich your family time this summer (search the website where most of these are found for many more fun family ideas!):

1.  Owl Whistle–sound like an owl and hopefully hear one calling back to you

2.  Moleskine notebooks–great for nature journaling on summer hikes

3.  Night Sky Star Wheel–shows only the brightest stars simplifying the night sky

4.  Fire Pit Popcorn Popper–for popcorn over the open fire

5.  Know your Knots–learn how to tie useful knots

And here’s another great resource for summer or all year long – check it out:
