Today we have a special message from Sandee Beckers who, as the founder of our Grand Parents Auxiliary, is putting on an event to support SLOCA. The Grandparents Auxiliary was founded to support their children and grandchildren in their unique hybrid education and to support SLOCA in ways that they may not have the time or resources to do. The Auxiliary also seeks to broaden the awareness of SLOCA to the Central Coast and introduce our ‘classical education with a twist’ to different generations within our community. They now have an email contact list of over 160 grandparents who are kept abreast of school activities from a grandparent’s point of view and although we are not able to have Grand Days like in previous years, they are generously putting on a not-to-be-missed event this Saturday. Please read on for more information and click here for a previous Grands post from Sandee.
Dear grandparents and supporters of SLOCA families,
We have an opportunity to help our kids and grandkids in a new way on October 16, 2021, by supporting our Grandparents Auxiliary Fundraiser, “Tastes of the Vine”. This event will be held at a beautiful estate in Edna Valley, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to show financial support for SLOCA, as well as give the surrounding communities a way to learn more about the school. I’m sure you will agree that our kids are supporting this school with their time and resources, and probably putting on hold one of their careers in order to do so. We want to encourage and honor them by providing assistance in this way as the school continues to grow and excel.
We need your help, and I’m sure some of you would like to know how to do it!!
Please come to this event! We are hosting several small, exclusive local wineries and Side Car, will be offering some of their designer cocktails. Everyone will enjoy wonderful music and the surrounding vineyards from the terraces. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a drawing for delicious Central Coast restaurants, a stay at a local ranch estate in Cayucos and a weekend in Bass Lake.
Being on the SLOCA Board, I have had an opportunity to be involved with the future plans for the school. It is “bursting at the seams” with its growth and we need to be preparing for this. We, grandparents, have experience, knowledge, resources, and contacts. So let’s come together and show our support on October 16th!
